NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C., May 30, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At a grand opening ceremony to be attended by local government leaders, ManTech International Corporation (Nasdaq:MANT) today expands its presence in South Carolina with a new Logistics Center supporting the U.S. military’s Vehicle Engineering Maintenance and Operations Support (VEMOS) program.

Attending and speaking at the 1:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting event will be R. Keith Summey, mayor of North Charleston, S.C., and Minnie Newman, mayor of the city of Hanahan, in addition to ManTech President and CEO Kevin Phillips and Dan Keefe, President and COO of ManTech Mission Solutions & Services (MSS) Group.

Two buildings comprise ManTech’s new North Charleston Logistics Center for a combined 310,000-square-foot facility that houses ManTech’s central hub for supplying parts and support to 120-plus maintenance facilities worldwide for the military’s Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) and other Route Clearance Vehicle countermine/counter IED systems. North Charleston is also home to ManTech’s integration facility supporting Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) vehicle and C4I operations.

According to Dan Keefe, “ManTech is proud to support a program that protects the lives of American troops and we believe that North Charleston, with its advanced infrastructure and strategic access to many transportation options, makes it the perfect site for this endeavor.”

The new center is near rail, seaport and military air facilities, key to rapidly transporting vehicles and parts at reduced transportation costs.

Keefe adds, “ManTech has set the standard for operational, engineering and logistics support for U.S. Army MRAP vehicles, and sustains a 96 percent operational readiness rate ensuring these vital assets are consistently available for critical missions.”

In November, the Army awarded ManTech an $847 million task order for the VEMOS program, and the contract transitioned on March 15. Under the five-year agreement, ManTech provides a wide range of sustainment support services (operational engineering and logistics support) globally for approximately 25,000 vehicles.

The new North Charleston center employs approximately 50 Defense Department-experienced personnel, including logistics analysts, heavy equipment mechanics and mechanical technicians, bringing the total number of ManTech employees in the Charleston area to about 130. As ManTech’s support mission of this vital military asset program grows, it is expected that additional qualified personnel will be needed. Notably, about 90 percent of the center’s employees are veterans.
